Search Committee Minutes-June 27, 2022

1. The Lead Pastor Search Committee met on June 27th at AVERA on Louise

Opening Discussion

• Brad expressed thanks to committee members

• Brad emphasized the importance of confidentiality – continues to be important with applications submitted and interviews underway

• Minutes from last meeting were approved

Search committee continues to follow and review CRCNA document “More Than a Search Committee”

Phase I – Preparation – complete

Phase II – Reflection – complete

Phase III – Nomination – complete

Phase IV – Evaluation – in process

Phase V – Selection – in process

Phase VI – Affirmation – upcoming

Phase VII – Celebration – upcoming

Miscellaneous Items

• Pastor Drew Hoekema (Platte Christian Reformed Church) has been appointed our new church counselor. Pastor Adam Eisenga is moving to Michigan. Brad shared with  Pastor Hoekema that we are quite far into the search process and appreciated knowing he is a resource for this committee, should we need it.

• Brad shared a recent email from a candidate asking for an update

• Much discussion was had regarding the next steps with several of our candidates

• Brad shared the document “Progression of Candidate Interview Steps.” We discussed the potential schedule and details for the Fri-Sun weekend visit for a nominee and his wife/family

• The Committee unanimously decided to notify one candidate that we are being called in a different direction. The committee desires that we express our appreciation for his time and interest and share the decision

• Continue to watch/listen to several candidate services and sermons
• Continue to pray for God’s leading in our search process
